This is has hopefully been fixed in Mute 2.3.1 with XKit Patches 3.1.4 (visible via the internals option which is on the “Other“ pane).
If you’re wondering why we haven’t answered your ask yet, it’s because we have 1,322 asks in our inbox right now. If you’re reporting an issue or suggesting a feature, we’ll see it faster if you submit it over on github here (please, if it’s already been reported, leave a comment on that issue instead of opening a new one).
Please check the FAQ before asking a question. Due to the sheer volume of asks, we’ll be deleting asks that are already answered in the FAQ.
This was on my radar for a while and I am pleased to announce that it is fixed in the 7.6.6 release for Firefox. You can manually update here if it the automatic update hasn’t happened yet.
One legitimately weird thing about Tumblr is that when you reblog a post, you have full editing power over the original caption. Sometimes that’s funny, sometimes it’s not—but in any case it’s something that’s concerned a lot of you for a while now. We’re finally fixing it.
Starting today, people will be able to reblog your posts with all of its captions intact, or with all of them removed, but they won’t be able to edit your words. Phew.

Yes, you do need to uninstall old XKit before installing New XKit. I apologize if you are on Chrome as this will delete all of your data unless XCloud chooses today to work.
No, we do not have a build for Safari or iOS.
If you are having a problem with Editable Reblogs please confirm that you have the Rich text editor set as your default and have versions 7.6.5 of XKit, 1.0.8 of Editable Reblogs, and 3.1.2 of XKit Patches. Note that XKit Patches is only visible if you select “Show Internal Extensions” on the Advanced Settings section of the Other pane.
Finally, if you are still encountering issues, please include your browser and operating system versions in your report.
Since we got a huge influx of followers with the new update:
The No Sidebar extension has been turned into an option in the Open in Tabs extension. If you only want the No Sidebar part, there’s an option for that too.
One person reported fixing this by restarting Firefox and clicking the “Update All Extensions” button on the Other pane of XKit.
View My Tags was updated earlier today so that it should actually work instead of throwing a VMT-510 error.
Tumblr made a stupid update, I made an extension to fix it. We’ll need to update a core XKit function before it works for HTML and Markdown users, but it’s a start. The extension should be available momentarily.
This is greatly improved in version 1.0.7. If you don’t have the version we recommend to restart your browser and click the “update extension” button for Editable Reblogs. It still doesn’t support HTML/Markdown as a default editor.
We just ironed out a couple things (ending line break, editing/reblogging your own post). What’s broken for you?Tumblr made a stupid update, I made an extension to fix it. //I have the extension and it does not appear to be working.
We just fixed this in Editable Reblogs v1.0.2. You may need to restart your browser to get the update because caching is the worst.

Two of us are on this blog, and there’s at least one other regular contributor. We welcome contributions over on github from anyone willing to help. You’ll see us make a lot of “I” statements in posts because we usually work alone on separate projects within XKit.

Regarding the header, that’s an option you can turn off in Tweaks.
I moved a bunch of sidebar elements down, and tracked tags now comes with an option to stick it back at the top since I believe someone requested that originally. I probably missed some, so reblog/reply to this post or send an ask if you see something else that needs moving.
This is part of the retags extension. Does it still not work with retags installed?
Thanks for the report! This is fixed now with Outbox version 0.9.6 and Tweaks version 3.2.5.
Huh. Neither of us remembers putting that there. It’s been removed.
What?? This was never a plan. What gave you that idea?
Are you thinking of the update to Retags? Because that was strictly adding features to an option already available.
Sorry, I made a typo. This should be fixed in Open In Tabs 1.1.5.
I also made the lightning bolt not open a tab, and dashboard and inbox now only open a new tab if you’re not on those pages (e.g., the inbox button opens a new tab on the dash, but refreshes when in the inbox).
Just updated Tweaks to have this option (off by default). It should get to you soon. The updated version is Tweaks 3.2.3.
I’ve made the changes. It might take a while before they get to you. The new version will be Open In Tabs 1.1.4.
Thanks for the report! If you update to the latest version of the core extension (7.6.5), the problem should go away. The problem with the control panel is a new and exciting bug that I believe has no ill effects.
Looks like Tumblr broke reblogs such that comments get added regardless of whether or not someone actually wrote anything. We’ll look at it later tonight if it’s not fixed by then.
Blog tracker and Mass Post Editor should now show up on the dash.
Weird distortion of follow buttons while using the slim sidebar tweak now fixed.
Sidebar tags now stay aligned when using slim sidebar.
Open in New Tabs is not installed by default. After you install it it will be enabled, and can be disabled by uninstalling it. There’s probably some confusion because it didn’t do anything at all until a couple of minutes ago. Sorry for the disorientation! If it persists after uninstalling and refreshing please let us know.
We’re working on User Menus+.
Just added a default option to hide the “Show More Blogs” to the No Recommended extension.
No Sidebar has been turned into an option in Open in Tabs, due to confusion over why an extension named “Open in Tabs” didn’t let you open blogs in new tabs.
Open in Tabs no longer forces the dashboard button to open a new tab.
This was a minor error when I updated Open in Tabs. Should be fixed now.
We just fixed the Open In Tabs extension. It actually works now.
This update is very minor. It updates jQuery to latest minified version which reduces our binary size by around 40%, meaning that XKit’s initial load is up to 40% faster. It also fixes a minor bug in the Firefox XHR bridge.
Someone asked for this forever ago and now their request is buried in nearly 700 asks:
The “only show retags and responses” switch on the activity page now includes mentions as worthy of keeping.
We’ve been getting quite a few messages like this, which is bizzare because we both run Firefox (I run 39.0) and neither of us have this problem. If those of you with this problem could give us additional details (OS, browser version, blacklist extension version, other extensions (browser and XKit), anything else you find relevant) by replying to or reblogging this post, that would be great.
Not a thing in Firefox as far as I can tell, unfortunately. Posting for Chrome users.
Header Options has an option to fix it to the top of the page so it won’t scroll with you.
I’ve made an update to Post Archiver that should allow you to save your archived posts via an import/export function.
To get this on Old XKit follow these instructions:
If something breaks the first time, don’t panic! Something probably went wrong with the pasting in, but this should never cause you to lose your data. Simply try again, and if it’s still broken, send us an ask detailing what you did (the more detail, the better) and what error you’re getting.
Make sure to uninstall the old XKit before installing our New XKit. Because we are a fork, Chrome does not recognize us as the heir to the XKit name and will not automatically replace it with New XKit.
Thank you for your kindness and diligence in updating! If you have Firefox, you can safely uninstall and reinstall the extension to force a version update. On Chrome, if there is an option to enable Developer Mode on the chrome://extensions page then you can click it and spam the Update Extensions Now button. Otherwise, pick a god and pray.

This update prevents XKit from running directly on blogs and increases the amount of location context provided to extensions. This fixes the issues with Themes, Themes Plus, and Timestamps.
Thanks for the report! This is related to an issue in the Themes+ extension and possibly the Themes extension. A fix to Themes+ was just published and investigation into Themes is underway.
It looks like it does. Any fork of Firefox that has incorporated the changes to the addons API made after version 32 should work.
If you’re able to recreate the Aw Snap! error that is probably a bug that the Chrome developers would be interested in knowing more about. Their bug tracker is https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list, although given they probably already know about the crashes with all the telemetry they have.
As of now, there are two ways to get your account info in your sidebar, and both are slightly broken:

We’ll look into it. It might be related to how XKit currently doesn’t work in private browsing. Posting for other people with this problem.
There’s an export option that you can use to save your blacklist in the move. Just copy the text to a file, then paste it back in using the import option once you’ve installed the new version.
It’s the face we make when things are broken.
You have to install the extension before it will show up in the editor. Sometimes you‘ll need to refresh the editor before it will show up.
