Server outage and XKit reset popup

Some of you may have seen a recent error saying that the XKit servers can’t be reached. If you see this error, please do not reset XKit. Nothing is wrong with it.

We’ve determined the actual issue to be page load failures on Github. While this is happening, please be aware that updating extensions and viewing the extension gallery might be broken.

Unfortunately we cannot give an ETA on when the services will be restored, but knowing Github’s reputation for being a solid service it should be fixed soon! In the meantime, please be patient.

Messaging Tweaks: Enhance your IM experience

This brand new extension is for all the people that have gotten the new IM update for Tumblr! Useful tweaks to enhance your way of chatting with people!

Change chat bubble color, align your messages to the right, minimize the chat, or replace the background color of the chat with a color of your choice! Anything is game!

You absolutely don’t want to see any kind of messaging? This has a tweak to remove the chat bubble out of your sight and out of your mind! (+a small easter egg tweak)

Tracked Tag URL

Good news: We managed to restore the tracked tag URLs to point to the /tagged/ pages again. Update to Tag Tracking+ version 1.6.0 to fix the sidebar links. Classic Search version 1.0.4 brings back the old search bar behavior. To update, you can either wait or manually force an update using the button in the extension’s settings page.

Bad news: We didn’t figure out a proper way of bringing back the numbers of new posts in a tag so far, it’s something we’ll look into though.

About tracked tags and Tumblr’s recent update

We’ve gotten a bunch of people reporting changes in Tumblr’s search bar and the way tags are tracked.

A few of the developers just got the update so we’re gonna look into it as soon as we can!

It is finally time, the extension a lot of you guys have waited for is here!

Reblog Display Options allows the customization of of reblog chains on your dashboard, for example removing the icons, the usernames or minimizing spacing between text and name. It also allows you to change back your dashboard to the old style of blockquotes, if you so desire.

NOTE: You may have to refresh the page after changing options in this extension. Make sure you have removed all other dashboard modification scripts before using the extension.

It should be available in your extension gallery by now, so go grab it from there!

AlreadyReblogged and PostBlock: Fixed!

We pushed an update for a bunch of extensions earlier, fixing the issues with AlreadyReblogged and PostBlock being broken due to a change in naming on Tumblr’s side (data-root-id -> data-root_id)

You can either wait for the extensions to update automatically or manually update under the Other tab in your XKit Control Panel!

Today, we found out that Tumblr changed one of its post attributes from data-root-id to data-root_id. We depend on that attribute to figure out if a post belongs to the same reblog chain of a post you’ve already reblogged. This change also broke PostBlock, so we fixed that as well.

Currently, our fixed code is awaiting review before it gets pushed and becomes available to you all.

Invalid Editor Problem with Editable Reblogs 2.1.x

We have gotten lots of reports that, even if you are using Rich Text as your default post editor, it still says Invalid Editor type.

The message looks like this

Worry not, as we are already working on a fix for this error, as well as the HTML reblog problems that cause it to happen in the first place.

Until the update is out we strongly advise that you disable Editable Reblogs

Problem with reblogs not appearing on dashboard

It recently came to our attention that entire reblog sections of posts just disappear when viewed on the dash. We traced the issue back to tumblr changing their reblog chain detection yet once again and are currently working on adding a fix to Editable Reblogs to automatically clean this up.

In the meantime we have found a workaround for already affected posts:

Go to the HTML editor and to every link in the reblog chain add 

class=‘tumblr_blog’

with SINGLE QUOTES.

Be sure to use single quotes (apostrophes), as Tumblr’s parsing will strip the class out if it has double quotes.

Again, we are working on an Editable Reblogs update shortly which will do this automatically.
