Hello! As some of you may already know, Tumblr pushed a major update to the activity page yesterday. Consequently, a few of our extensions are going to be broken until we’re able to update them. This should be a relatively painless process, but it may take a few days! In the mean time, please don’t reinstall XKit or panic or anything like that. As long as you’re on New XKit version 7.7, you’ll get the new updates as soon as they are available.

Extensions that we’ve written a fix for, and should be ready for release sometime today:

• Retags (showing tags on the activity page)
• NotificationBlock (hiding notes on the activity page)

Extensions that we know are broken, but are still waiting on a fix:

• Activity+ (Filter notifications by type, group notifications by post, add notification timestamps)
• One-click reply (post replies)
• Classic Notifications

On the matter of sidebars

You may have noticed that Tumblr has recently made a change that increases the width of the sidebar and, on some screens, pushes the posts further off-center. We have just released Tweaks version 5.3.0 which adds an option under the User Interface section to get it back to what it was (or at least getting as close as possible). You will get the update eventually, but you can force an update through the “Other” tab of your XKit control panel.

Bug with weird symbols

There’s currently a bug going around which injects weird numbers and symbols in the middle of texts. This is a bug caused by a recent update of Tumblr, and we are unsure whether this is XKit-related or Tumblr-related, seeing we’ve had reports of older, non-edited posts being affected as well. We’re currently looking into this.

I was going to make a comment about those just tuning in, but Tumblr just put my cursor at the far left of my screen like that was a normal place to enter text, and then tried to make the entire textbox a link to the gif source. Staff better fix this.

Thank you Tumblr. That is definitely what I wanted to happen when I went to edit my post. It’s not like I wanted working markdown or anything silly like that.

Tumblr Update: Rich Text Editor

Tumblr has changed the rules of its rich text editor to disallow nested blockquotes. This is NOT caused by Editable Reblogs. We were just made aware of this, and are working on it. In the mean time, the HTML and Markdown editors work fine.

When reblogging things, especially when reblogging from another tab (IE, middle click->open in new tab), and particularly when reblogging to a secondary blog, all text may be removed. Whether its a photo post or a text post or any kind of post, tumblr is removing all of it, and I can't tell if its the xkit extension allowing users to edit reblogged stuff glitching or just tumblr being broken!

We’ve noticed this sometimes happens if a post is reblogged while XKit is not finished loading. Try waiting until XKit is fully done loading and see if the same issue occurs. If it does, send us another ask.

This is related to the Tumblr update to reblogs. We’re working on this and will let you guys know when it’s fixed!

NEW EXTENSION: EDITABLE REBLOGS

Tumblr made a stupid update, I made an extension to fix it. We’ll need to update a core XKit function before it works for HTML and Markdown users, but it’s a start. The extension should be available momentarily.
