blackjackkent asked:

Are you guys accepting pull requests/contributions from the general public and if so do you have any standards or requirements for how those are submitted? (Would love to get involved and help dig out some of the broken shit. :) )

Absolutely! There is nothing we love more than contributions! We don’t have a guide yet, but an example of a successful contribution is https://github.com/hobinjk/XKit/pull/8.

I know that you guys already have MORE than enough on your hands right now (THANK YOU!) but are there plans in the future to develop a new xkit type app? I'm guessing that doesn't fall into the open source category.

If you run Firefox on Android, XKit will work as-is if you use the desktop site. Otherwise, we don’t have plans to port over to mobile right now. You’re right in assuming that XKit mobile isn’t open source, so we can’t support that without writing an entirely new app.

idk about ur opinion on this but did you inform/ask atesh (xkit guy) about this whole thing...? im not trying to judge or anything but you know, even if he didnt reply

I did submit a pull request (offer to share our updated code) to him a couple days ago, which should have sent him an email. We got no response. If he does come back, he can accept our changes (or not, if he chooses) and update xkit.info and his version of XKit.

Since we have a ton more followers now, I’d like to reiterate that what we’re doing is an accepted practice in the world of open source, GPL-licensed software (which XKit is). We have more information on this in our FAQ.

Another question we’ve gotten is why not just change the name, and the answer to that is that if Atesh does come back, he won’t have to pick through our code to change it back.

xkit new xkit xkit guy maybe I should put this in the blog description Anonymous
This is some very broken shit.
This looks similar to another bug that started when someone clicked the “xkit installer” in the extension browser. Did you also click that? If not, could you tell us what your browser is and what extensions you’ve...

General PSA: don’t click the “xkit installer” in the extension browser. It’s an artifact of how we reimplemented extension downloads, and I’ll be asking the other developer about hiding it when they get online.

xkit new xkit turns out like half the xkit base is a hidden always-on extension submission

I hate being a bother, but I am a roleplayer that uses the old Xkit. Does your version have the some of the old Xkit extentions? Such as the tweaks, timestamps, reblog yourself? Is it possible to post a picture of what your version looks like? I hate being a bother my computer is just old and crappy and I am afraid that if I change something such as Xkit, something might break/stop working/etc. ; v ;

It looks almost exactly like the old XKit, and has all the old extensions. We’re just updating the old code.
